Starting strong with a 4 month hiatus! Much has happened since the first and only post was made. If you want the TLDR, read below and skip to “May 4-10”
Senioritis + Imposter Syndrome + The Collapse of Our Democracy = An interesting time!
I’ve managed to keep a strong enough support system to get through it. Anywho, I’m back here because I’ve enjoyed posting my art online, but am personally not a fan of my posts being used as training data for the plagiarism robot. I’m eventually gonna jump into the online art community to see the best ways to protect your art/general online data privacy, stay tuned.
In the meantime, I’m going to start posting blogs of any art I’ve made throughout the week. I’ve got a backlog that I would like to work though so I will probably have a staggered schedule (old art one week, current art the next).
I’ve been thinking about that vague notion that you don’t have to be good at something to have fun doing it. A big reason I stopped making art was because I didn’t feel skilled enough for it to be worth it. I wasn’t the “best” artist I knew and I definitely wasn’t planning to make a career out of it.
But that is a terrible way to live as a person! I could go on a whole rant about how our current system pressures us to monetize our hobbies (that includes all of the advertising and data mining while enjoying time online) and only ever present the “best” version of ourselves, but that’s not what this post is for!
May 4-10
To keep art as a consistent aspect of my life, I’ve been drawing at least twice a week. Auditing a plant course at UC Davis has given me the perfect schedule for this, as twice a week I have the opportunity to draw various specimens. Below are this weeks drawings from the Tuesday and Thursday labs:

I also had the opportunity on Wednesday to join the Budding Botanist Club’s field trip to the Jepson Prairie Preserve. Below are my field sketches!

Stay tuned for some old art which will hopefully be posted in around a week!
